As of a week or so ago Kim was "NOT READY!" to have a baby. Any time I mentioned the fact that having a baby two weeks early was not that unusual, she would assure me that there was no way that we could have the baby any time in the near future. Then she went on her nesting rampage...
Some nice women in the ward threw her a baby shower, and Carolee sent us a bunch of Isaac's clothes that were the wrong season for Drew.

We pulled out dusty boxes and totes from the corners of the attic.

Kim completed the two-month long project of getting Megan and Henry's room ready.

Even Megan got all caught up in the motherly action. She keeps telling me about how she is going to give the baby a bath, change him, feed him a bottle and hold him when he's crying. These all sound like bad ideas to me.

Notice the new bedding on the crib. I remember specifically when Kim made (that's right -- made) the crib bedding when Megan was born, she intentionally chose red and yellow as the colors so that she wouldn't need new bedding for a different gender. Yet somehow I came home one day to see new Pottery Barn blue and green bedding with planes on it. So much for the social construct and patriarchy of colors. I hope Henry won't feel like a failure when he doesn't grow up to be a fighter pilot.

At least she decided our ducky bath was gender-neutral enough.

Our living room is already getting all cluttered up (something I've really fought against since moving to a home with two stories).

Megan was quite intrigued to see all of her old things. It's hard to tell if she actually remembers them, or if she just figures that they are hers because everything in the house is hers.

From some reason Henry also needed:
The fridge cleaned
The lawn mowed
The patio swept
The car washed and vacuumed
The house dusted
The bathroom scrubbed
A new shower curtain installed
and the list goes on...
After this flurry of activity, Kim's tone switched overnight from "not being ready" to "this baby will NEVER come!" She has already decided that the baby will be born two weeks late, even though her due date isn't for another four days.
To distract Kim from her baby woes and lunacies, we celebrated her birthday yesterday with a steak and artichoke dinner, and dessert at The Melting Pot.
Come soon, baby!
